I'm a divorced dad of a beautiful 12-year-old daughter who I'm raising to be a proud Democrat. Currently work in the research field at a large non-profit child welfare agency in Missouri.

Note to Some: Please Grow the Hell Up

Wed Jun 04, 2008 at 07:39:59 AM PDT

Bloggers Big Tent Democrat and Jeralyn continue to fan the flames of division at Talkleft, a once respected site that has become the defacto sounding board for bitterly disappointed and angry Clinton supporters.

Today, BTD jumps all over a piece at Politico. Seems an unnamed senior adviser suggested Obama won't spend a lot of time in the next few months wooing Clinton supporters. BTD's reaction?

Makes sense to me. Why worry about 18 million voters? So it turns out the Obama campaign has some not too smart people on his campaign too. Expect a swift rebuke from Axelrod over this.

Whatever.

Undeclared super: Obama lining up endorsements for Tuesday

Mon Jun 02, 2008 at 12:08:52 PM PDT

Jason Altmire, a freshman House member from Pennsylvania and undeclared superdelegate, gives some insightinto what's going on behind the scenes right now in the Obama camp.

For those of us waiting for the super avalanche today, it looks like it may instead happen tomorrow while Montana and South Dakato go to the polls.

Obama displays his Spanish-speaking skills

Wed May 28, 2008 at 09:21:03 AM PDT

Talking Points Memo has the take on Obama's new television ad in Puerto Rico where he speaks Spanish.

As a non-Spanish speaker, I find the ad (besides being smart) a bit amusing and curiously uplifting. But here's my question: for those who know Spanish well, how does he sound? How might Puerto Ricans respond? Is this something we might see in the general election in states like Texas and New Mexico?

Colorado GOPer Bob Schaffer Makes Mountainous Mistake

Wed May 14, 2008 at 09:02:03 PM PDT

The Republican U.S. Senate hopeful says he knows Colorado. Apparently, though, not as well as he thinks.

Schaffer and his Democratic opponent Rep. Mark Udall (an undeclared superdelegate, by the way) released their first video ads of the campaign. The result, for Schaffer, quickly turned embarrassing.

Hillary's New Path to the Nomination

Thu May 08, 2008 at 07:13:57 AM PDT

It seems Hillary Clinton's new path to the nomination has been forged. Based on her and her strategist's statements over the last day or two, this path rests on one bold claim: Obama can't win white voters and is therefore unelectable.

Here's what their path to the nomination looks like:

NC Students Do Their Own Exit Poll

Tue May 06, 2008 at 11:56:27 AM PDT

Apparently not wanting to wait for the latest batch of exit polls out of North Carolina, a group of students from Fayetteville took matters into their own hands today.

The result: Obama is winning at least one precinct!

Zogby: Obama holding steady in NC, IN

Sat May 03, 2008 at 09:58:40 PM PDT

Caveat #1: Yes, it's Zogby.
Caveat #2: Yes, he pegged Pennsylvania.

Zogby has been polling North Carolina and Indiana since Thursday using a 2-day rolling average. The last poll will be released Tuesday, the morning of the primaries.

Today's poll still shows Obama on top in Indiana, while the race in NC appears stable for now with Obama holding a 9-point lead.

Good News From Quinnipiac!

Thu May 01, 2008 at 08:16:03 AM PDT

Quinnipiac University has just released polls from the so-called "Big Three" states -- Florida, Michigan and Pennsylvania -- and they are good news for Obama.

Tar Heels Coach Williams: Obama Will Be Next President

Tue Apr 29, 2008 at 08:31:49 AM PDT

Monday was a crappy day. It's time for some more upbeat news.

This morning, Barack Obama played basketball with members of the North Carolina Tar Heels in Chapel Hill. It seems he's taking the advice of many here at DailyKos who've urged the senator do hit the court in this mega-basketball state (along with Indiana).

Check out this cool pic of Obama's short jump shot!

Screw it. I'm getting a new hobby.

Mon Apr 28, 2008 at 03:38:59 PM PDT

I'm tired of it.

For all practical purposes, Obama has won this thing. He played by the rules and won the nomination. He's won more states, more cauces and primaries, more pledged delegates.

We've all done the math over and over again. Hillary needs a miracle.

So why am I so bummed? I oughta be happy as a freaking lark, excited and energized and pumped up over the prospect of a Democrat beating the piss out of John McCain in November and restoring integrity and competence to the White House.

Rasmussen: No National Momentum for Hillary

Fri Apr 25, 2008 at 06:43:51 AM PDT

Rasmussen Reports is out with their latest national tracking poll and guess what? It shows absolutely no movement to Hillary after her "historic" and "game changing" 9-point in Pennsylvania.

This is sure to be disappointing news to Hillary supporters like Lanny Davis, who keep one eye trained on these national tracking polls for any signs of Obama weakness. But as we have seen all primary season, Obama is able to absorb hits and come out on top.

National voters are settling in on the fact that Barack Obama is the Democratic nominee.

Hillary's Desperate Message to Supers: Hold Your Horses!

Thu Apr 24, 2008 at 02:36:45 PM PDT

Bill and Hillary Clinton are many things, but they’re not stupid.

They’ve both been around campaigns and politics a long time. They know how the game works. They know the rules. And they both know the odds of Hillary winning the nomination at this point are virtually nil.

How Jesse Jackson could force Hillary's hand

Wed Apr 23, 2008 at 02:00:05 PM PDT

Maybe I'm still reeling from one too many shots of Goldslagger last night. Maybe this never-ending primary is making me bitter.

Maybe I'm just bored at work.

So just for fun, let me throw a crazy idea against the wall: Jesse Jackson, if he wanted, could turn this primary election on its head and force Hillary to concede. How? By running as an Indepedent candidate for President of the United States!

Obama: North Carolina will seal the deal

Thu Apr 17, 2008 at 12:05:11 PM PDT

We're all accustomed to the Hillary campaign and their whimsical game of musical goal posts.

Obama apparently has had enough.

Speaking today in Raleigh, NC, Sen. Obama laid it on the line: a win in North Carolina will seal the deal.

New PPP poll in PA: Obama +3

Wed Apr 16, 2008 at 07:21:40 AM PDT

A new Public Policy Poll released this morning puts Obama ahead of Hillary in the Keystone State, 45-42.

PPP surveyed 1095 voters April 14-15, after bittergate. It should be noted that PPP has been among the most favorable polls for Obama over the last few weeks. Last week, PPP had Hillary ahead just 46-43.

Obama is winning men by 14 points, while Hillary is winning women by just 9 points. Obama is picking up 37% of the white vote and 77% of the black vote in this poll.

PPP has Obama up 20 points in Southeast Pennsylvania (53-33) and five points in the South Central region (46-41). Hillary leads all other regions.

Obama's Unlikely Buffer

Tue Apr 15, 2008 at 12:31:33 PM PDT

With polls showing Hillary still favored to win Pennsylvania (as always predicted, even by Obama's own spreadsheet) all eyes will jump ahead to North Carolina and Indiana.

But aren't we forgetting something?

Hillary's Choice is Revealing

Mon Apr 14, 2008 at 07:31:52 AM PDT

Hillary could have been principled.

She could have used her voice as a leader of the Democratic party to calm the waters.

She could have called for a civil discussion on the real plight of small town Americans.

Hillary's Missed Opportunity

Sat Apr 12, 2008 at 11:45:55 PM PDT

She could have taken the opportunity to remind Americans what Democrats stand for.

She could have said Democrats are the party that fights for the common man, the party that gives a voice to the voiceless.

She could have called for a civil discussion on the plight of small town Americans.

She could have critiqued the media for deploying the same kind of gotcha politics that she has protested for years.
